Did someone say "trim please"?

Man, oh, man. I usually try to groom Ava's hair, but my sister caught this shot of her last night before Ava had a chance to primp for the camera. Bummer thing is, her hair is more sparse in the back (i.e. some has fallen out). She has the opposite of a mullet, which is good, I guess!

The little things...

We spend hundreds (and hundreds) of dollars on toys to stimulate the baby. And, what, do you ask, is she most fascinated with? The cord to the camera. She is endlessly satisfied by sucking on and playing with it. So much for Baby Einstein.
* For you worry warts - mommy strictly supervises when she plays with the cord!

This is the look of desperation...

Last night Sergio took Ava to give me some mommy time (i.e. taking a MUCH needed shower.) When I came downstairs I found my husband pushing her around in our jogging stroller. He was so exhausted he couldn't carry her anymore, but the movement made her nice and content. I love it! Welcome to a mother's world.

A big hello to Ava's cousin Arianna from Italy! We hope she had a great time in Rome (thanks for the postcard!). In this shot Ava is wearing an outfit Arianna sent from Italy. So sweet!! (By the way...Ava has her father's feet.)

Goodbye bassinet!!

Ava has graduated from her bassinet to a bigger bed. Actually, this should have taken place a while ago. She is still under the recommended weight for the bassinet, but she couldn't stand it. The second her head would hit that mattress she would start wailing. Since her crib was recalled, we tried her play yard, and, voila, it worked! She slept SO WELL! What a good girl. What a big girl!

Where's Simon & Garfunkel?

Now that Ava is in her walker she is nearly ear level with the stereo. So last night as I was getting ready, she was patiently trying to figure out where the voice was coming from. She has never been so curious about music. She sat there staring at the radio. I think she was expecting a man to come out!

Looks like Ava threw back a few too many brews with her dad last night!

We love Grandma!

Tuesday night we had a fun visit with Grandma and Grandpa. During this picture, Ava was having loads of fun not allowing us to eat dinner. Woohoo!

I wonder what a professional photographer would say about this shot. All I know is that I freaking love it!!! Jefe (my sister's dog) is such a clown.

Mama and baby...

Since I'm always shooting the pics, I'm rarely in the shot. My sister got this one of me and Ava this weekend, during our visit to her house. I think Ava looks more like her daddy in this shot, no?

She has good hat head!

Fortunately, Ava looks good in hats. Now we have to find her the right size. Daddy's head is a tad bit bigger than hers.

Lunch with Uncle...

This weekend we had a GREAT time at the mall with Uncle Mike and his friend Brian. (I was just a wee bit excited to get out of the house.) Then Uncle Mike treated us to lunch. Thanks Unk! *Sergio noticed that Brian and Ava look related...they have the same eyes!

Today Ava's cousin Madisen is visiting. Clearly Ava is having a good time. Hopefully she takes a nap and rests up so we can go to lunch.

Happy Five Months Ava!

My little baby is growing up so fast. Yesterday, Monday, she celebrated her five months by going for a walk in the grass. (She's also getting due for a trim!)

Sunday afternoon, Ava woke up from a delicious nap just in time for a visit from Auntie Sandra and Uncle Russ. Ava loved the snuggles with Auntie Sandra. Come over any time!

Hairpuller is back...

...with a vengeance!! I don't have any pictures to prove it (since it happens when we're nursing), but she's been pulling her hair harder than ever. It's like she's rediscovered it, much to my dismay. I just try to laugh and not think my daughter is into pain.

A miracle!

My friend Almarosa has performed a modern miracle. She was able to get Ava to sleep in her arms - and in rapid time! This rarely (if ever) happens when someone besides mommy or daddy is holding Ava. Well done, Auntie Alma!

Sleep shopper!

Babies are so resilient. We were at Sephora, with it's bright lights and loud music, and Ava just feel asleep in my arms. All of the sales associates were practically attacking her, so she decided to end the irritation and fell asleep. Maybe she's playing possum!
